About
I've spent many years running pubs, most recently The Red Lion in Wetherby. I know the trade from the cellar up.
Relief cover is what I do now. I take the keys, learn your setup quickly and keep the place running the way you'd run it yourself — staff onside, regulars looked after, nothing slipping because you're not there. When you're back you get a straight handover of where everything stands.
What I cover
I've run genuinely busy weekends — open mic nights, DJs, live football, bingo and dominoes — and I know what it takes to keep that trade coming through the door rather than just keeping the lights on.
Opening, closing, security and the decisions in between.
Tapping, venting, line cleaning and temperature kept right.
Running your existing team and keeping shifts covered.
Deliveries checked, orders placed, takings reconciled daily.
Open mic, DJs, live football, bingo, dominoes and function nights — booked, staffed and run properly.
Beyond the bar
Ex-Royal Navy, and still closely involved with veterans' organisations.
At The Red Lion I helped set up Wetherby's Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club, and together we've raised thousands of pounds for the Royal British Veterans Enterprise. If your pub has a veterans' following — or you'd like to build one — that's ground I know well.
